Build Studios is delighted to launch a collaboration with Building Partnerships that will significantly enhance the range of business support services available to members of Build Studios.
Adding to the existing community benefits of being based at Build Studios, Members will be able to attend a programme of free-to-attend workshops and networking activities and access Building Partnerships’ business development and business support services at a discounted and flexible rate.
With a collaborative approach developed over 10 years that mirrors Build Studios’ own ethos, Building Partnerships offers some unique solutions and resources to start ups looking to develop resilient new business through the minefield of regulations, finance and administration; and to SMEs looking to expand into new business sectors or locations.
The workshops and networking will be online in the first instance and live at Build Studios when restrictions permit.
We are looking forward to the opportunities this collaboration will bring to help Build Studios members develop their businesses and access new opportunities, and to widen our community of forward thinking firms in the built environment sector.
Events and business support
The collaboration with Building Partnerships will initially offer the following support to Build Studios members:
- New monthly ‘Lunchtime Learning’ series – a free, drop-in session focused on solving a dedicated issue, and on developing processes to run your business more efficiently.
- Regular events, including an Opening Doors series launching in April 2021 on how to win work in new sectors.
- Access to Building Partnerships’ existing monthly networking events and resources.
The Lunchtime Learning sessions will be delivered by Peter Searle, an experienced construction industry management advisor with a wealth of experience in a real work environment. Peter provides Building Partnerships’ comprehensive business support services.
The services cover a range of business considerations, some of which are outlined below:
For professionals:
- Is your hourly rate correct? Many professionals are using a rate they know others are using, but is it appropriate for your situation?
- Can you afford to take on more staff?
- Are you organised as efficiently as possible?
- Do you know if a project will be profitable when it finishes?
- From your figures can you tell which projects you should be targeting?
For contractors:
- Are you frustrated by the tendering process
- Are you constantly being undercut?
- Is the cost of bidding dragging you down?
- Do you get financial shocks at the end of a project?
- Do you have a regular review process?
