Our recent Member Showcase event profiled the diversity of businesses based at Build Studios. There was a quickfire set of presentations from different specialisms, from conservation-led design to OpenBIM.
Speakers included:
Pierre Saunal from airc who talked about how OpenBIM is changing the way the human ecosystem is delivered using digital design, bespoke workflows, advanced collaboration and BIM ISO19650.
Jonathan Fashanu from DASH looked at the deep retrofit of residential properties to meet modern environmental standards.
Virginia Gillece from Fuller Long spoke about the importance of heritage-led design and the recent phenomenon of rogue additions to the local list mid-application.
Alex Butt, Head of Public Realm at WeAreWaterloo, was joined by Imogen Blaikie from architecture and urban planning practice, Allies and Morrison, to discuss the process behind developing a Placemaking Strategy for Waterloo and the launch of WeAreWaterloo’s new environmental strategy.
Despite the diversity of the subject matter, lots of common themes emerged, in particular the extent to which environmental considerations are impacting on even the smallest of projects; and the commitment of our members to support schemes that help their clients to reduce their carbon footprint.
